Sable Dame Apparel Company offers products for high-class, sophisticated women. They held their Fall Preview Fashion Show Nov. 11 in the University Center.

The room was filled to capacity, packed with everybody waiting in anticipation to see what they had in store.

Royce "Mocha" Jackson, founder of Sable Dame, is in her last semester of graduate school studying Public Administration. She was in awe over the turnout for her show.

"I was just thankful to God for the support of my dream, Sable Dame," Jackson said. "It went from my sketch pad to a reality to a production like this and I couldn't have done without the help of my staff and I'm just thankful to see everybody come out and support it."

The show consisted of five acts with a brief intermission and some very exciting entertainment.

UMKC student Jenay Woods graced the crowd with a beautiful song, "His Eyes Are on the Sparrow." Miya Reynolds, another UMKC student, recited a poem.

MSO, a Kansas City rapper from Coast Free Entertainment, stole the show with the performance of his new hit song, "She Loves Me" from his second mix-tape, Mild Mannered.

After MSO got the crowd pumped, the models returned to the stage for the final two segments.

Lauren Crawford, one of the models, was shocked to see the amount of people in the audience when she first stepped out on the runway. But she still gave a great performance.

"Oh my goodness, it was so packed in there," Crawford said. "It was people standing up. It was amazing. I walk on the runway and I was almost a little nervous."

Jackson started planning this show during the summer, and a lot of hard work went into it.

The first model call was held in September and only two girls showed up. But Jackson did not lose faith. She continued to hold model calls and rehearsals, and more girls began to show up. It increased the collective enthusiasm about the project.

Jackson had nothing but praise for those who helped put her show together.

Marleana "Miko" Richardson, the model coordinator, was a huge help in many different areas. She was responsible for deciding what looks fit the girls, what accessories they should wear and, most importantly, she taught them how to walk the runway.

Richardson recently launched her own modeling agency, Omoses by M, which coordinates models for different shows in the Kansas City area.

Jackson praised the staff at the University Center for helping set up the event and the Institute of Entrepreneurship for their sponsorship. She also gave sincere thanks to her models who gave up several weekends and afternoons to come to rehearsal.

"It was a group effort," Jackson said. "It was my dream. But I had my team with me to help everything go smoothly."
