Film Festival: UMKC Pride Film Festival presents the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion. Event takes place from 4-9 p.m. at the University Center, room 106. Admission is free and open to the public.
Conservatory: The UMKC Conservatory presents the Jazz Combos Concert. Performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at Grant Recital Hall (5227 Holmes). Show will feature the 12:30 Combo, 5:00 Combo and 2:00 Combo. Tickets are free for students with valid UMKC ID.
Best of Fest Shorts: The Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee presents the Best of Fest Shorts Screening from the 2009 Kansas City Film Fest. Event takes place from 7-9 p.m. at the AMC Mainstreet Theater (1400 Main St.). Admission is $10.
Tuesday, Nov. 3
Day of the Dead: MEChA presents the Dia de los Muertos celebration at 6 p.m. at Pierson Auditorium in the University Center. Event will feature Ballet Folklorico Mexico de los Hermanos Avila and poetry from Latino Writers Collective. Hot cocoa and bread will be served.
Author Discussion: UMKC PhD student Patrick Dobson presents his travelogue "Seldom Seen," a chronicle of his walking journey from Kansas City to Helena, Mont. Event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library - Plaza Branch (4801 Main St.).
Wednesday, Nov. 4
WEPT: The Written English Proficiency Test (WEPT) will take place at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. in Royall Hall, room 111.
Paramore: With a new show date set, Paramore is ready to rock Kansas City. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Uptown Theatre. Local act The Beautiful Bodies will play at 6:30 p.m. in the front bar (Nowhere Lounge). Tickets are $29.50; those purchased for the original show will be honored at the door. All ages welcome.
Book Discussion: Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez joins UMKC's Angela Elam (of KCUR's "New Letters on the Air") for a public conversation about his book "The Soloist," which became the basis for the 2009 motion picture. Event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library - Plaza Branch (4801 Main St.).
