The guys of The Last Vegas are rock-stars. And they owe it all to hard work, dedication and Mötley Crüe.

The members of The Last Vegas have always loved music, and the Guitar Center on Stage competition gave them the chance to pursue their dreams.

"They had this thing almost a year ago with like 8,000 bands competing for an opening spot on the Saints of Los Angeles tour," Chad Cherry, front man for The Last Vegas, said. "Out of the 8,000 bands we won the whole thing. We came out on top."

After winning the competition, their careers moved in fast-forward.

Cherry and the rest of the band (Adam Arling - guitar, Nate Arling - drums, Johnny Wator - guitar, Danny Smash - bass) opened for Mötley Crüe this past winter.

But it was not an easy start for them.

"I moved from Michigan to Chicago and the only guys that were rock and roll stars were Nathan and Adam and Johnny," Cherry said. "And there was no one really doing the kind of music that we like to play and the stuff that comes out of us."

Despite the void of their particular music genre, they got together and started a band. That was almost four years ago.

"We decided to start a rock band and take over the world," Cherry said.

The band credits the classic rock bands they listened to growing up, like The Doors, Guns and Roses, Aerosmith and Metallica, as the biggest influences on their music.

Their music style, however, is something completely unique. With each band member bringing their own personal experience and history with music, the guys came up with an extraordinary combination of punk rock and edgy glam.

"It's very loud, obnoxious, sexy, dangerous and 100 percent rock and roll," said Cherry. "We're all over the board. We just love good music, anything that it is."

The guys were all interested in music and began playing at an early age. When they were young, Cherry and Smash were in a band, which Cherry described as "glam rock."

"We had rock and roll in our blood at a very young age," Cherry said.

For The Last Vegas, their lifetime of practice has now paid off.

The first single off their new record, "I'm Bad," was released in January. They are currently preparing to tour with Buckcherry.

Their lives now revolve around their music.

"It's pretty much the only thing we do," Cherry said. "We don't have day jobs or anything, so we really stay focused on writing new songs and trying to do bigger and better things."

Don't miss The Last Vegas when they treat Kansas City to a personal visit (and a rock show).

They will perform on Sept. 19 at The Beaumont Club with Buckcherry, Smile Empty Soul and The Veer Union.
