UMKC men slated for four games in CBE Classic
The men's basketball team will take on squads from four schools in the 2008 O'Reilly Auto Parts College Basketball Experience Classic (CBE).
First up for the Kangaroos will be the defending National Champions from the University of Kansas. UMKC will face the Jayhawks Nov. 16 at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan.
The Kangaroos will then travel to the Sunshine State for three matchups in Fort Meyers, Fla. Nov. 24 they hit the hardwood against Bradley University, and then tangle with University of Richmond Spiders Nov. 25, before matching up with Florida Gulf Coast University Nov. 28. UMKC's radio home 810 WHB will carry the broadcast the Kangaroos' CBE contests.
Brumagin and Morris are Summit League preseason first teamers
Dane Brumagin, senior forward for the UMKC men's basketball team, and Chazny Morris, junior guard of the Roo's women's hoopsters were both selected to the Summit League's pre-season first team.
The 6 -4 Brumagin ranked 14th nationally in three point shooting last season. His 17.1 points per game average (ppg) rank him fourth among returning players within the conference.
Morris averaged 17.6 ppg to lead all Kangaroo women shooters in 2007-08. Recognized as the university's top athlete over the spring, she received UMKC's Circle of Champions Award last season.
Preseason Summit League polls have UMKC's men finishing sixth in the conference with 199 points while the women are picked to place eighth overall garnering 140 points.
Men's golf team to hit the links in Texas finale
The UMKC head to the Lone Star State this week to participate in the UTA/Waterchase Invitational. The tournament, the Kangaroos' last of the fall season, will be held Monday and Tuesday in Arlington, Tex. at the Water Chase Golf Club.
UMKC will feature junior Alex Hogben, seniors Brent Iliff and Michael Schnegelberger, sophomore Josh Taylor, and freshman Will Robson in the tournament.
