10 Must-see Halloween movies since 1975

The United States prides itself in its portrayal of thrills, chills, gore and screams. Hundreds of Halloween horror flicks have been created since the founding of Tinsel Town, but only few have survived technological advances and a public that is becoming more and more desensitized to violence in the media. Because there are so many to choose from, the cut off date for this list is 1975, so movies like "The Exorcist" (1973) and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974) didn't make it, but are still recommended. There are also several foreign horror flicks ("Ju-on" and "Ringu," for example) that were also not taken into consideration. This short list was compiled by combining top choices from several movie Web sites, so hunt around if this list does not satisfy you. Most movies were selected for utter thrill and horror, their contribution to pop culture (and multiple sequels) or their timelessness and creativity.
