It was a rough weekend for the volleyball team.

After traveling north for two matches, the Kangaroos came home without a win.

The Roos took on North Dakota State University (NDSU), the Summit League's only undefeated team, Friday evening and followed up with a match against South Dakota State University (SDSU) on Saturday.

UMKC pushed to the NDSU Bison to four sets 22-25, 20-25, 25-19 and 23-25.

Even though the Roos lost the match, the team saw some success with their statistics. Freshman outside hitter Kate Humphreys made a double double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Freshmen middle hitters Christiana McQuin and Brittany Fossier and outside hitter Elizabeth Beck all put in kills with double digits.

And, holding the team with 27 digs was freshman libero Alexandra Miller. Freshman setter Erin Wellwood had 13 digs of her own.

The Bison got off to an early start but the Roos wouldn't let them get too far away. The Roos were only two points away 10-12 and caught up with a 19-19 and 22-22 tie. The Bison finished the set ahead 25-22.

In the second set, the Bison continued their success with another close set 25-20.

After a break, the Roos came back to win a set. The Roos began with a five point lead and worked hard to maintain it much of the game, even ending with the same lead, 25-19.

Even though the two teams stayed close, the Bison added the fourth set to their wins, 25-23.

The SDSU Jackrabbits hopped from win to win on Saturday taking the Roos in three games 16-25, 10-25 and 21-25.

Even though the Roos got off on the right foot with a small lead in the first set, the Jackrabbits tied 10-10 and 13-13 before knocking out fifteen more points to win the game 25-16.

In second game, SDSU took control early and held it the entire game. The Jackrabbits totaled 20 points while the Roos had only 5 points. The two teams traded the next 10 points ending the second set 10-25 in SDSU's favor.

In the final set, the Roos did not let the Jackrabbits get away tying one score after another. But after a 13-13 tie, the Jackrabbits did just that scoring 6 points, 19-13. The Roos began to climb the scoreboard, but ultimately SDSU took the set and match with a 25-21 win.
