Kangaroos grab fifth place finish in California

Playing in a climate more suitable to his game, UMKC senior Stephen Clark shot into a fifth place tie on March 7 and 8 at the Colorado/Stevinson Ranch Invitational in Stevinson, Calif.
Clark, who hails from Scotland, a country known for its wind and rain took advantage of the high winds in California as he shot a three-round total of 217 (75-73-69).
That score was part of a Kangaroo team total of 892 (304-290-298) which brought the squad in with a fifth-place finish as well.
Finishing tied for 14th individually was UMKC junior Michael Schnegelberger whose score of 223 (75-75-73) was the second best on the team.
New Mexico State University finished first in the tournament with a score of 872 (292-291-289), followed close behind by Saint Mary's of California and their team total of 880 (295-286-299).
The Kangaroos finished just six strokes behind the third place University of Colorado.
UMKC Redshirt Freshman Josh Taylor and sophomore Alex Hogben finished tied for 26th in the individual competition with scores of 226.
Brett Iliff, a UMKC junior finished his tournament with a score of 236, which placed him in a tie for 63rd place.
The squad takes a week off before beginning the Summit championship tournament on April 20 to 22 in Macomb, Ill.
