The Roo Party has three main goals: to get more students involved, to be more fiscally responsible and to have a "friendlier" SGA.
The Roo Party has very detailed plans to achieve each goal, according to Kotlyarov.
"Me and the rest of the people on the executive board are not going to sit around office waiting for people to come to us," Kotlyarov said. "We are going to go out and actively try to engage students as much as we possibly can."
The Roo Party also wants to modernize the SGA Web site with a blog feature where students can voice their questions and opinions about SGA.
They also wants to implement the SGA Leadership Seminar, a summer program where students can learn more about SGA and meet the executive board, senators and past senators.
The Roo Party plans to be strict, organized and open about the budget and spending.
"You can be sure that the operations budget will be kept in check, everything will be on the Web site," Kotlyarov said. "We basically want to hold people accountable."
According to Kotlyarov, to make SGA internally friendlier, the senators along with the executive board will go on semesterly or even monthly trips where politics aren't involved.
"One of the biggest problems right now is all these little political games people like to play and we won't have any of that," Kotlyarov said. "We will call people out on it."
Running with Kotlyarov is Matt Sonnenmoser for executive vice president (EVP), sophomore Jordan Lane for administrative vice president and senior Anastasia Varlamova for comptroller.
"Jordan Lane is very prominent in the med school," Kotlyarov said. "He's on the med school student council, the board at the dorms and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is really excited about his job."
Sonnenmoser is getting more involved in UMKC by running for office, according to Kotlyarov.
"Matt Sonnenmoser is a really capable guy," Kotlyarov said. "…He will do a great job as the EVP no doubt." Varlamova is a business adminstration major, a student ambassador, and a member of the International Student Council.
"She's really involved," Kotlyarov said. "She loves UMKC and loves being here. … She is really excited about running."
Kotlyarov said the make-up of the Roo Party is ideal for the average student.
"The Roo Party is the most adequate party to speak out in the respect of the average student who's here to bust his ass and get things done," he said.
Kotlyarov said he personally believes the new student union is key for campus involvement.
"We will be very happy to provide the medium for students to decide what will be in the new student union," he said. "We really want to get non-political people in it because the Student Union is for the average student not for someone with a particular viewpoint."

I would just like to thank the UNews for at least spell checking the electronic copy of this article. There definetly were a lot of errors in the hard copies that are all over campus, and while I understand that mistakes happen and everybody has places to be and things to do, spelling the word roo with the letters "r-o-c," and in the heading no less, made me question the validity of that entire spread. Lets talk about how stupid and useless SGA is all around. Even with the new people in place, SGA will not stop being corrupt (spent any money on computers and illegal t-shirts lately, Sean McClain?) and completely uncaring about students. (Continued…)
