Tuesday, Oct. 9

Thesis and Dissertation Workshop: Learn the tricks of the trade 7-9 p.m. in room 303 of the Miller Nichols Library.

Kansas City Gay History Tour:LGBT sponsored bus tour of Kansas City's gay history. 3 p.m. at University Center.

A Public and Private Death: Eleanor Clift will be lecturing on how she cared for her dying husband and continued to report on the Terri Schiavo case at 7 p.m. at Pierson Auditorium.

Memoir Writing Workshop: This is the first of an 8-week workshop with Grace Suh that is held 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. Cost for all 8 weeks is $250.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

Pontiac Football Toss: Come register for a chance to win a new Pontiac between 6 a.m. and noon outside Swinney Recreation Center. You must be present to win. There is also free pizza and a chance to win an iPod shuffle.

Slideshow featuring Ricky Allman, Maria Creyts and Diane Hank: This slideshow shows the artwork of several artists in the Kansas City Metro area from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, 4420 Warwick Blvd.

Learn some manners: Four course etiquette dinner from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in room 106 of the University Center. Reservations required. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at 4825 Troost Ave., room 205, or Bloch School, room 16.

Thursday, Oct. 11

Got Debt? The documentary "Maxed Out" is being shown at 7:30-9:30 p.m. in room 106 of the University Center. It shows the right and wrong way to use a credit card and how to get out of debt if (or when) you ever get there.

Are you LGBT? The National Coming Out Day Picnic is going to be held at noon at the University Playhouse.

Doug Talley Quartet: Free musical performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Room, 1616 E. 18th St.

Friday, Oct. 12

Blind McGike, KC/DC, Vincent Vega and Paranoyd: Musical performance at 9 p.m. at the Beaumont Club, 4050 Pennsylvania Ave., $10, Must be 21+.

Lamda Theta Phi Soccer Tournament: Registration is due Oct. 11th, at 5 p.m. Tournament is today from 3-7 p.m. at Gilham Park. There will be refreshments and prizes.
