Tuesday, Oct. 2
Drive Safe, Drive Smart: Seatbelts and Sobriety: While it isn't truly practice for drunk driving, it does catch your attention. The UMKC Police Department is having a fair on seatbelts and sobriety. Free pizza and soft drinks and a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Plaza. You also get a chance to practice for your next field sobriety test. Fair is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Quad.
Latin Coffee on the Go: Come get a free cup of Latin American coffee from 9-11 a.m. at the Multicultural Student Affairs Office in the University Center.
Career/Health Fair: Sponsored by the Pre-Med Society with guest groups including the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and the UMKC Women's Health and Wellness Center. Hours are 1-4 p.m. at the University Playhouse and Walkway. Includes free food and a giveaway.
Wednesday, Oct. 3
These Hands Don't Hurt: Sign a pledge between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. promising never to commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women at the UMKC Quad.
The Black Lips, the Rich Boys and the Selmanaires: Concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Grand Emporium, 3832 Main St., $10.
APC Presents the 80's Roller skating party: Skate from 8-10 p.m. at the Wyandotte Skateland, 7838 Washington Ave., Kansas City, Kan.
Thursday, Oct. 4
UMKC Coaching Program Murder Mystery: Come dressed sophisticated and enjoy an evening of interactive Clue® from 6-8 p.m. in Pierson Auditorium.
Kansas City Women Writers' Series: Readings by Christie Hodgen, Judith Ferig, Maria Vasquez and Barbara Moss at 6 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library, Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.
Surplus Property Auction: Bidding starts at 10 a.m. but you can view the items for sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 3rd, and from 9-10 a.m. Oct., 4th. Auction is held at 1122 E 48th St.
Friday, Oct. 5
The Jazz Crawl: Travel as a group to several jazz clubs in Kansas City. Official times of travel are 9-11 p.m. Group meets on the top floor of the University Center. Transportation can be arranged. Contact Elizabeth Hill at APC: (816) 235-1457.
