Health Sciences Bookstore Grand Opening: BBQ in front of bookstore at 11 a.m. Ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Drawings for travel vouchers, digital camera, printer, gift cards and a $500 textbook scholarship. UMKC Health Sciences Bookstore, 2418 Charlotte St., 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Spring Fling Roo Fair: Learn about student organizations while getting free food and prizes. University Walkway, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Gates Bar-B-Q Luncheon: Enjoy beef brisket, ham and turkey. Side dishes include pecan pie, cobbler, salad, pizza and burgers. Just $7 (plus tax). Cash, credit cards, declining balance and meal points accepted. U-Center Cafeteria, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Sustainable UMKC Competition Celebration: Celebrate the winning ideas for making the campus more environmentally sustainable. Keynote speaker James W. Sheppard, Ph.D., professor of environmental philosophy, will present a lecture at 3 p.m. on the obstacles to climate change policy. Pierson Auditorium, 1-5 p.m.

Take Back the Night: Kristin's Story: Evening of empowerment against sexual assault and rape with nationally-known speaker Andrea Cooper. UMKC attendees will meet at 6:15 p.m. at the Women's Center, 105 Haag Hall, and walk to Rockhurst together. Massman Gallery, Rockhurst University, 7 p.m.
