In a year with high expectations, Rich Zvosec faced more setbacks than successes in the Kangaroos' 12-20 season.

In his first personnel action as the University of Missouri-Kansas City director of athletics, Tim Hall terminated former head basketball coach Rich Zvosec effective immediately.

"In our continuing commitment to a strong and successful athletic program, we will begin an immediate and deliberate search for the next Head Coach," said Hall in a released statement. "I thank Rich for his six years of service to UMKC and its Intercollegiate Athletics program, and for his commitment to the men's basketball program. Please join me in wishing him the best in his future endeavors."

Zvosec's finest season as the Kangaroos' leader was during the 2004-2005 season. The men won 12 games during the conference season, more than any other year in UMKC's 13-year history as a member of the Mid-Continent Conference.

Zvosec was named the Mid-Con Coach of the Year for 2005. Unfortunately for the Roos, they were upset in the opening round of that year's tournament.

Zvosec, who leaves along with his entire staff, leaves the UMKC basketball program having won more Mid-Con Conference games than any other Kangaroo hoops boss.
