"We're trying to arrange a meet and greet, but we're still working out the details," said Jessica Long, student services coordinator for Student Life.
As of March 9, 750 seats were sold for the show. The comedian who appears on NBC's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" will perform at 7 p.m. March 16 in Swinney Recreation Center. Long said 2,500 people can attend.
Setup for the event will be much like when the Activity and Program Council (APC) brought Dr. Maya Angelou to campus March 4, 2006, using bleachers and chairs lined up along the floor in Swinney. Approximately 1,800 students and 800 people from the public attended that event.
Four general seating student tickets are available free per student ID. Four priority student-seating tickets are available for $5 each per student ID. Public tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
All tickets can be picked up at the Central Ticket Office located in the Performing Arts Center at 4949 Cherry St. Money charged for tickets goes toward the pool for bringing big-name performers to UMKC.
The event is being advertised on local radio stations like Hot 103.3 and 95.7 The Vibe. Newspapers like The Pitch also are running advertisements.
