The International Student Council sponsored the planting of a tree in honor of America at last week's Sept.11 memorial. The tree is accompanied with the above plaque so as to avoid confusion of this tree with other, undedicated trees on campus. The official memorial service, titled "A Community of Learners Remember with Chancellor Gilliland," took place on the UMKC breezeway and was attended by a large number of administrators, faculty, passing students, and various community members.The program included remarks by Chancellor Martha Gilliland and the International Student Council (ISC) along with other ethnic clubs and organizations on campus, and planting a tree in honor of the United States and its tolerance toward them as foreign students.
