UMKC's history of providing college level courses to high school students now extends to middle schoolers. UMKC joins The Partnership for Regional Educational Preparation in Kansas City (PREP KC), The Woodrow Wilson Foundation, The Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute (KCALSI) and the Kansas City School District to open the Southwest Early College Campus (SWECC).

UMKC officials have modified the graduation ceremony. After two years of unified commencement, excited and anxious seniors will be finishing up their year at ceremonies within their own schools. Graduates will go through the traditional ceremony like many other universities, but this year there are a few modifications for the Class of 2008.
Midtown recycling center leaves UMKC, needs new home The Midtown Recycling Center, which used to sit on UMKC property, is now homeless. The center used to be at 48th and Tracy streets near the American Ice building. The center was one of five area recycling centers run by Bridging the Gap.
