UMKC is lying to students about the cost and features of a new student union, according to an ad-hoc campus group. Students for University Progress, a coalition of students who oppose the proposed student union, has launched a campaign against the initiative.

The UMKC Women's Center is the only center in a Missouri university to have its grant that helps violence prevention efforts refunded. The Women's Center originally received the grant in October 2005. It came from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Violence Against Women.
Vice Chancellor resigns Vice Chancellor for University Advancement John Amato resigned his position, effective Oct. 31. Amato joined UMKC July 1, 2006 following 22 years in university advancement, including posts at Drake University and with the Iowa College Foundation.

Oct. 27 3:20 a.m. Traffic Arrest - Officers arrested a suspect who was driving under the influence of alcohol at Cleaver II and Troost boulevards.
