Camaraderie is key for this Kangaroo

By David Cordill

When soccer player Josh White began attending classes at UMKC his freshman year, his status as a student-athlete made the transition from high school to college a little less perilous.  A Liberal Arts major and senior defender for the Kangaroos, White said the camaraderie he felt initially among his peers from the soccer squad - and other university sports teams - helped him feel like he was a part of a unique family.

Logging approximately 8,000 miles of U.S. Interstates, state highways and more than likely a few county roads in search of the next Kangaroo recruit, UMKC softball Head Coach Meredith Smith is happy to be back home coaching her squad this fall. The determined coach made stops in Temecula, Calif.

By Elyssa Brogdon

Volleyball drove sophomore Jamie Hagerman to do more than simply dive for digs; it drove her to the UMKC campus and Head Coach Geno Frugoli's door as well. The Outside hitter began college as a Cyclone, not a Kangaroo. Hagerman started off at Iowa State University for a year before transferring to UMKC.

Playing in front of a spirited Wichita crowd of more than 1,500 patrons at the Charles Koch Arena Tuesday night, the Roos never seemed able to gain a solid footing.

Fantasy Prognosticator

By Joshua Seiden

It goes without saying that LT and Peyton are destined to rack up some serious digits on the fantasy gridiron. Once you get past those studs, there are no guarantees. Well, it's probably a safe bet that at least a couple of Bengals will visit the slammer and Ricky Williams will (again) be denied reinstatement, but most leagues don't assess points for those stats.
