Student decries Floridian officials' accusations, approach

World music welcomes world of classes

To kick off the fall 2002 semester, Communiversity held its first Sign-up Party in recent years. Musical performances by Gerald Trimble, international musician of multiple cultures, instruments, centuries and languages, and a free chair massage from chiropractor Sarabnam Khalsa brought many students to the University Center's cafeteria.

9/11 Panel looks forward, reflects back

A panel discussion marked the start of a series of campus-wide events to commemorate Sept. 11 last Tuesday, where various faculty members held a sober and detailed public policy discussion. The roundtable discussion, hosted by the Department of Political Science, was entitled "September 11, 2002: One Year into America's War on Terrorism.

Hey, stop already!

On behalf of all the pedestrians, bicyclists, and moped drivers on campus, the University would like to warn everyone that there are somewhat new stop signs at the four-way stop at 52nd and Oak Street. Students are used to plow through there with reckless abandon, but in the future motorist are encouraged to take a moment and totally pause there.

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) is looking for a permanent prayer space on campus. The space would give them a place in which to follow their religious obligation of praying five times a day without having to leave the campus between classes to do so.

Film responses to 9/11 attended by students, faculty

Any films associated with Sept.11 may evoke the distasteful depictions of death akin to such films as those in the "Faces of Death" series. Many found that Sept.11 films can also evoke thought-provoking and emotional reactions as well, as numerous students attended screenings of "WTC: Uncut" and "Underground Zero last Wednesday, as well as a lecture by "WTC: Uncut" co-director Steven Mudrick.

ISC remembers 9-11

The International Student Council sponsored the planting of a tree in honor of America at last week's Sept.11 memorial. The tree is accompanied with the above plaque so as to avoid confusion of this tree with other, undedicated trees on campus. The official memorial service, titled "A Community of Learners Remember with Chancellor Gilliland," took place on the UMKC breezeway and was attended by a large number of administrators, faculty, passing students, and various community members.
